Fairs, Sickness, and Faith!

May 11, 2012 in Minimalism

The May Fair and Carnival that I spoke about last time was a really successful day for the local town. The weather was dry, the Town square packed out with people, lots of cameras around and the May Queen’s theme was Rapunzel, so the two boys who were her heralds had nice woody-toned doublets made for them, while the female attendants wore pink dresses. Two Maypoles in the town square assured that The Sun was going to rise for another year (for fans of The Hogfather!).

That was Thursday 3rd of May and Saturday 5th, what followed for me on the Monday night was one of the most severe stomach bugs that I’ve ever had the misfortune to encounter (not mead related, I can assure you, as I do not drink!). The being sick part only lasted a night, now this is where the Faith part comes in…. its at times of fever and sickness that we most reach out, and indeed seem closest to the other worlds (at one point in my fever, I was a powerful magician able to move items with the power of my mind and wand – yet unable despite this to stop my stomach heaving it contents! Sorry if too much information!). I’ve heard some people call for their God(s) others for their parents this is the root of faiths and beliefs – the need for comfort in extreme situations.

In my fever, I seemed to be analysing things – being sick, yet being amazed that my body was reacting to something within and trying to expel it to protect itself! An amazing piece of whatever you believe in……evolution…..etc.

So does anyone else have weird hallucinations and perspectives while ill?

Blessings and Namaste.
